MUSTA 3.0

GENERATOR POWER

Before operating the generator there are three major considerations.

1) If you’re going to be running the vehicle continuously in a bushfire prone area, in extreme heat or winds, you need to consider if the generator and running vehicle       present a hazard to the environment around you.

2) The generator should never be run indoors or in an enclosed outdoor space due to the buildup of Carbon monoxide fumes. These fumes can be harmful if               accumulated in an enclosed space and therefore the vehicle should always be operated outdoors when using the generator.

3) It is important to ensure the vehicle has enough Fuel to run for the duration of the working day. On average the generator will use half a tank of petrol per 8hrs of running; with air conditioning and a deployed satellite dish.

  1. Ensure that the vehicle is in Park and the Handbrake is engaged.
  2. Start the vehicle's engine and let the vehicle run for at least 60 seconds. If it is a cold day we would suggest extending this time until the vehicle idles solidly.
  3. Ensure for the duration of the next section you do not engage the foot brake of the vehicle, as this will stop the Generator.
  4. Locate the generator ON switch in the centre console of the vehicle.
  5. Lift the flap and turn this switch clockwise.
  6. You should see the tachometer of the vehicle increase and an audible taxing on the vehicle’s engine.
  7. Additionally a green light will illuminate in the generator panel.
  8. The vehicle should continue to idle at this new indicated level.
